Start Date for 2012 Training

Sessions at the Harris Girls Academy (SE22 0NR), JAPS East dulwich(SE22 8TE) and Green Dale Community Centre(SE22 8TG) venues will all commence on Monday 9th January 2012. First class at the JAGS sports club (SE24 9JN) will start on saturday 21st January 2012, We hope all our students have a fantastic Christmas break and New Year Celebration. We are looking forward to seeing you all, along with some of our New students starting with us in January 2012...Taekwon! Sabunim Martins Obiiorah (4th dan)

General Club grading 2011

Thirty five students successfully graded and promoted to their next belt on Monday 12th December 2011 by master Martins Obiorah (4th dan WTF),Master Richard Allen of Allen Taekwondo (4th Dan WTF, and Sabunim Jukhee Kwon (3rd dan WTF) at the Best Leg Taekwondo Academy JAPS training venue in Dulwich London. This was the last next club grading for 2011, with the next grading schedules for March 2012.

Jacobus strikes gold in Dorset

Jacobus Fenton one of our rising star athlete was crowned the 2011 Dorset Taekwondo Champion at the -35 peewee male category. The tournament held in the tourist city of Bournemouth featured top clubs from around the UK. Best Leg was represented by three athletes. Jacobus Fenton (gold),Laura francis weighing just 37kg was moved up two weights category, but eventually won a bronze medal at the -50kg cadet female category. Megan Smith continuing with her superlative performace in Dublin last week also won a silver medal at the +55kg female cadet category. Next stop for the academy will be the 2nd Best Leg vs Action Taekwondo club competition training and sparring at st John's Wood North London, on Sunday 13th November 2011, this event will be an ideal opportunity for our young and upcoming athletes to train and spar against students from Action Taekwondo, in order to gain necessary sparring experience ahead of major tournaments in 2012 and beyond.

Megan Wins Silver in Dublin

Megan Smith our upcoming star cadet athlete won a silver medal at her first international at the South Dublin Taekwondo Championships on Saturday 22nd October, adding to her medal hulls from previous tournaments. The next few weeks will see students of the academy competing at various tournaments within and outside London. This weekend 30th October will see Megan Smith, Laura Francis & Jacobus Fenton all competing at the Dorset Opens Bournemouth. Our inexperienced students are not left out in the action, as they will be achieving their first competition badge at the London Interclub sparring in Rotherhithe 6th November 2011. Students such as Daniel lee (6 years), Shadath (7 years),Lilla (8 years) and Lilai (7 years), will be competing against similarly skilled students from Allen taekwondo, Positive impact, EMPSI, and Fusion...watch out for latest results next week.

Beijing Olympic Medallist visit to the Academy

Best Leg Taekwondo Academy hosted Nigerian International Chika Chukwumerije who is the Current heavy weight African champion and Beijing Olympic medalist on Monday 5th September.Chika Chukwumerije trained with the academy briefly, sparring with some of our future olympians in the elite class. Chika stopped briefly in London on his way to Mozambique to defend his title at the All African Games, and has always been a valued friend of the academy, and a role model to our upcoming students who wish to achieve success in Taekwondo. We at the academy wish Chika success in the African Games, and London 2012 Olympic Games.

1 Gold 6 Bronze medals for Best Leg at the 14th British Internationals

Best Leg Taekwondo was represented at this year's 14th British International Taekwondo Championships in Crawley by nine players, Megan Smith who was moved a weight above her normal fighting weight defeated two players to achieve one of her best performances in the -54kg Cadet female category, Saajvir Singh won a bronze medal by defeating 2 players in the preliminaries and quarter finals, however lost in the semi - finals to the eventual gold medal winner in the -28kg Peewee category. Other bronze medallists were Jake Egelnick, Laura Francis, Jaden Philips, Jacobus Fenton, and Rosie Follett. Student to watch out for in future competitions is Lucas Fenton, who had his first competition experience at this event.

New elite athlete training class in Dulwich

Best Leg Taekwondo is proud to open a new competition focused class 'The elite athlete session' is specially created for those students whose aim is to progress to elite level ability in Taekwondo. The sessions are on Mondays at the Green Dale community Centre venue from 6.30-7.30pm. Participation in this class is strictly by the recommendation of the Head Instructor.

Jaden Philips wins Best Student Award 2010

After a fantastic seminar by top UK Master Instructor and London 2012 Olympics Taekwondo LOCOG manager Master Mike McKenzie (7th Dan), at the 1st Best Leg Summer Camp & awards. Some outstanding students of the academy were awarded certificates and trophies for their various achievements last year. Three new black belts, Jake Egelnick (1st Poom), Sam Baraitser (1st Poom) & Max Baraitser (1st Poom),received trophies and were officially accepted into the Best Leg Black Belt College. 20 students of the academy received certificates for various achievements ranging from perfect attendance to sparring achievements in recognition for their performances at the tournaments the club attended in 2010. The most coveted award 'The Best Leg Taekwondo Academy Student of the Year' went to Jaden Philips. This year event was Held at the Harris Girls Academy Sports Hall East Dulwich. The Hunt is now out for the Best Student award 2011. Criteria for selection in to this award are as follows; Perfect attendance, positive attitude to training, Respect to Instructors, Parents and Club, willingness to assist other students, and most importantly aiming to be the best at all times.
