Best Leg International Taekwondo Open Championships
Established in 2022 by Best Leg Taekwondo Academy, the Best Leg International Taekwondo Open Championships (BLITOC) is a world-class taekwondo competition hosted annually at the renowned Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London. BLITOC provides a platform for elite athletes to showcase their skills and compete at the highest level, fostering a spirit of excellence and camaraderie within the global taekwondo community.
Who We Are
BLITOC is sanctioned by the Governing Body British Taekwondo (BT), as a silver level event. The tournament is the go to tournament in London, and has seen participation from clubs within England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. Our event in 2023 saw athletes from Belgium, France and the Netherlands competing. This year, we have grown to include athletes from China and Ghana. Athletes compete in Poomsae and Olympic sparring over two days.
Mission, Vision & Values
BLITOC aspires to be the go to tournament open to athletes from the elite level, to novices in the United Kingdom, by organising high quality tournaments annually. Our vision is to increase access and opportunities to local clubs, athletes, coaches and spectators in the Olympic sport of Taekwondo. The vision includes promotion of the positive qualities from Taekwondo, such as leadership, perseverance, self control and indomitable spirit.
History
BLITOC was established in February 2022, and hosted its first tournament in July 2022, with over 400 athletes competing. In 2023, we had 510 athletes compete. Our 2024 event is now fully subscribed with an expected number of athletes registered currently at 660, over the two day event.
BLITOC is the brain child of Master Martins Obiorah (6th Degree Black belt), ex British National Champion and ex Olympic Athlete, having competed in Athens 2004 Olympic Games in the -80kg category.
